A Marketing Term Paper Better Known as A Glorified Resume
When I graduated from college I couldn’t find a job. I looked every where. The job market was so horrible I would literally send out twenty resumes a day and would have an interview less than once a month. I was so frustrated. There was nothing I could do to get ahead. Every interview I went on was just another disappointment. Usually there were three or four people in the waiting room in nice three piece suits. I never felt good when I left a job interview. I became working at a local coffee shop. It actually was a really good job with good tips and I got a lot of dates out of it. It just couldn’t pay the bills. I had to do something. I had to find a way to get myself out there. My student loans were coming due and my mom had given me a an eight o’ clock curfew. Life was just depressing. I decided to write a marketing term paper on myself.
A marketing term paper is sort of a glorified resume. It was the way I planned for others to see me. How could I stand out in front of a see of other college students? What did I have to offer? One day I became besides myself with anger and frustration. I thought I had done everything right. I went to college, worked really hard for four years and got a degree. I was now serving coffee to people wearing suits, driving fancy cars and asking them if they wanted a low fat blue berry muffin with that. That evening as I was falling asleep in the bedroom I grew up in I starting sketching out my term paper. I had had enough.
Three o’clock in he morning my eyes sprang open. My alarm was bellowing and my sketch pad was on my face. I had to be at work in an hour. I hating opening that stupid coffee shop but I had done some critical analysis research. The four o’ clock morning shift resulted in the best tips and it was the only shift that would still leave me enough time to go on job interviews. I also needed the extra time to work on my research paper.
I wanted some help with my marketing term paper. I enlisted the career center at the University I graduated from. They were little to no help. They had a limited amount of jobs on their board. The career center manager was really tied up and only saw students by appointment. I went straight to the library and started working on the term paper on my own. For the next couple of weeks I really lived in the library. I crafted an amazing resume and cover letter. I really tried and to show passion and make it be known that I would be an asset to any company. I even bounced ideas off of my adults friends who actually already had professional jobs. They were a lot of help.
A year later I walked into my last job interview. My supervisor later told me that she liked my marketing term paper and interview so much that she sent all the other people to be interviewed that day away. I was very happy that all the time and work I put into my marketing term paper had really paid off.
