I am not a social butterfly. I don’t do so well in social situations. Going to dances and parties are just not my thing. Because of this I was a senior in high school and had never had one relationship. I had never even kissed a guy. Not even on the cheek. I thought of myself as decent enough looking. I was an athlete and a pretty smart person. I guess I just never put myself in situations were anyone would want to be with me. It was odd at times. I think once you establish yourself one way it’s hard to come out of that rut. I had been this way since I was a freshman. Now as senior most guys just saw me as the girl who didn’t date so no one ever approached me. One afternoon in English class as we were taking down the criteria for our next term paper, Ms. Daniels, the vice principal, walked in with the hottest guy I had ever seen in my life. She introduced him to Mr. Champion, our English teacher, who then introduced him to our class. His name was Ryan. He was so good looking, dark hair and eyes and tall. He had a great athletic build and he walked with such confidence. He took a seat and the girls around me were all bustling with excitement.

I knew I didn’t have a chance with Ryan. He was far too good looking to want to be with me. He quickly became Mr Popularity and all the girls were vying for his attention. I began to admire him over term papers in English class. He didn’t sit too far from me so I would occasionally glance over at him. The few times he met my eye I quickly looked away.

One afternoon Mr Champion was going over a narrative term paper. He explained how the thesis must be visible in every paragraph of the paper. He also told us how he has been getting poorly edited research papers and asked that we triple edit each paper before turning it in. He also stated that the analysis research was really slipping. We would have to work harder on this. I was taking tons of notes as Mr. Champion spoke when a note was slipped on my desk. This had rarely happened to me and I quickly opened it.

Mr Champion glanced over at me and asked what I was reading. I looked up at him shocked. That was when Ryan chimed in and said “It looks like she’s reading a narrative term paper, sir.” I looked over as him. He had the best smile and it was aimed right at me. The not simply said “what are you doing this weekend -Ryan.”

I quickly folded it up and continued taking notes on the narrative term paper. Ryan caught me quickly after class. I was so nervous as he spoke to me I wanted to run. But I tried to stay confident and listen to him. He told me he’d noticed me the first time he saw me and was wondering why I had never talked to him.

That weekend I went out on my first date with Ryan. I felt so awkward. He had so much confidence I really wanted to know what he saw in me. Finally I just asked him why he sent me that narrative term paper. He laughed casually and told me that he thought I was beautiful, strong and was really happy that I didn’t try so hard. He told me that I was just me and he really liked that. I just continued to stare at him in awe. He was gorgeous and I felt gorgeous being with him.

I’m a vegetarian, and really pro animal rights. I recycle, keep the lights down, turn the faucet off when I’m brushing my teeth and really try and walk when I can. I even purchased a hybrid car. I always thought I was a pretty good earth friendly person. Until I met my friend Stacy. She was a vegan, and has protested in front of zoos and circuses for animal rights. She used candles at home and cooked over a wood burning stove. Stacy actually had some sort of contraption in her home that recycled water. And of course she didn’t own a car but walked or biked everywhere. Our senior year in college we had to write a final English research paper on something we were most passionate about. Stacy wrote a global warming term paper.

I loved Stacy but I just felt like this was another way for her to get on her soap box. Stacy wasn’t a passive tree hugger she could be a bit mean at times. I have watched her yell at the driver of a horse drawn carriage and chew her sister out for throwing away an aluminum. She refused to drive in a car that had leather interior and yelled at one of her friends for ordering veal. The problem was Stacy would go, but never ever quietly. I knew her global warming term paper would be amazing. I skimmed through her outline trying to get some inspiration for what kind of term paper I would write.

Stacy’s global warming term paper started really strong. She had a strong introduction where she had six main points that she carefully summarized in a strong thesis. She had at least two sources per point and sited them in the MLA format. Her term paper even included a ton of analysis research. The conclusion of her global warm paper was incredible since she was actually writing about something she loved and had a passion for.

Stacy received an A on her global warming term paper. She lover her paper so much she began passing out copies of it on the street corner. It was actually pretty funny. Instead of a tiny pamphlet Stacy was passing out a huge thirty page term paper to anyone who would take it, which was not very many. I wondered how she justified killing so many trees.

That afternoon my cell phone died and I needed to borrow some notes from Stacy. I stopped by her apartment and rang the door bell. She yelled come in, I walked into her apartment and there was Stacy eating a huge steak. Her global warming term paper was on the coffee table and every single light was on in her apartment. She jumped up when she saw me. And quickly tried to explain the situation.

I did learn one thing from Stacy’s global warming term paper I learned what to write my term paper on, hypocrisy. I couldn’t believe how Stacy had fooled me. I was angry and frustrated but I channeled my energy into a stellar final term paper.

Simon is my best friend. I’ve known him since we were in diapers. He’s a great guy. I have always been able to relate more with men than women. Maybe it’s because I grew up with four older brothers but I really never got along very well with women. I think most women are petty, controlling and a bit too emotional. Which is why Simon and I always got along so well. He was the most relaxed person I knew. For years people thought Simon and I were dating. Somewhere in the back of my mind I did always like him but I knew all we would ever be were friends. I think I just knew too much about him. We were both fiction writers who really had aspirations of writing the great American novel someday. But I was terrible at writing term papers. Simon didn’t understand why I didn’t get it. He often laughed at me when I got a C on a paper. I was having an especially hard time when we had learned how to cite term papers.

Our freshman year in high school was when we really had to write a bunch of research papers. Simon told me he would teach me how to cite term papers but he had many other things on his mind. High school was were are relationship really began to change. It wasn’t just Simon and I. It was Simon and what ever girl seemed to be fawning over him. I started to look at Simon differently. He was now at least six feet tall. He was a runner so he had a very lean and muscular build and his face had really thin out from the days I used to call him chubby cheeks. For once I was not the only woman in his life. I began having to listen to Simon talk about other girls. It was hard not to feel resentment and jealousy.

Our teacher told us that our next term paper would not only require some key analysis research but we would also have to learn how to cite term papers. Simon helped me by creating a quick cheat sheet for citing books:

After Simon taught me how to cite term papers he wanted to get something to eat. We drove to one of the local restaurants like we had done so many times before but something had changed. I could tell he was starting to see me differently to but was just trying to keep things the same. He looked over at me as we came to stop light and asked what I was thinking about. Simon had asked me that so many times before but today it really took on a different meaning. He even smelled different and he looked great I could see his chest tighten as I looked up at him. I decided to go in for the kill and asked him, “Simon, do you like me.” He stared straight ahead. I could see that I had made him really uncomfortable. He swallowed and said, “you know I do.” We drove in silence after that. Simon drove right past the the restaurant we were suppose to stop at. I never would have believed that him teaching me how to site term papers would lead to this conversation. What ever happened I knew I was happy I had finally approached the subject. And I think Simon was too.

My mom always told me to never underestimate the power of presentation. No matter who you are or what you are doing the presentation is key. If you want respect act like you deserve it. Don’t buy a car in your pajamas, don’t go on a job interview without a hair cut and don’t leave the house without at lease some foundation. My mom told me the way you look says a lot. It also gives you confidence. Heels make you stand a little straighter and mascara helps you to look the other person right in the eye. My mom took and passed the bar exam while wearing a three piece suit.I took what she said to heart. I paid attention to the way I looked. I got dressed everyday no matter what and I never just sat around in my pajamas. Looks, nowadays means everything. So when I had to write my final research paper for college I got up everyday got dressed put on make up and wrote my paper. And of course I looked long and hard for the perfect term paper cover.

My friends always laughed at me when I showed up everyday to cafeteria for breakfast fully dressed and wearing makeup. My friend Jimmy often said he had never seen my face without make and Paula always asked if I owned a pair of flat shoes. I brushed off their comments. Dressing this way gave me more confidence and self esteem. It also helped when I got up everyday and worked on my final term paper for college. I worked really hard on the paper often spending long hours doing key analysis research in the library. My study breaks consisted of online shopping for the right term paper cover. It was hard. Did I want to go colorful or professional? Did I want clear? Did I want to three hole punch my paper? There were many decisions to choose from.

Aside from looking for a term paper cover I also wanted the cover page to look professional. I decided not to use any fancy fonts or make my words very big. My term paper cover would be clear and concise with the title in the middle and my name underneath. The bottom right section would include my name again, the date, name of the professor and title of the class. I wanted to keep it simple and classic.

The day I finished my final term paper, the paper that would determine whether I would graduate or not, I dressed in my best business suite, put my makeup on carefully and picked out some great jewelry pieces. I really needed to feel good today. I then printed out my paper. No sooner did I hit the print button did my computer freeze. I pressed every key but couldn’t get my computer to work again. The next thing I knew it looked like a virus was attacking it as I slowly saw all my files begin to delete. I stared at the printer making sure all the pages had printed. The next thing I knew my term paper was due in less than twenty minutes. I shoved my paper into the term paper cover I had purchased the night before and began running to my class room. I really shouldn’t have worn heels that day because I then tripped on an uneven sidewalk, fell and hit my face against the ground hard. I looked up to see my term paper land in a puddle of water and dirt. As I got up and rushed over to the only copy I had of my final term paper I realized that my paper had been saved by the cover. It had shielded the mud, soot and water. I turned my paper in with a bloody lip, ripped slacks and without the term paper cover. Sometimes presentation isn’t everything.

My friend Sarah is a second year law student. She is one of the smartest people I know. But she is has the shortest temper I’ve ever seen. She argues about everything. If you tell her something is funny it’s not to her. If you say the light was green she says it was red and she never lets anything go. It’s actually really frustrating. I really don’t know why I call her my friend at all. Sarah is the most combative and argumentative person I know. I can’t be around her for more than a day. I spent the weekend over at her place and we about killed each other. I really could not handle her. So it didn’t surprise me that when she got pulled over for a speeding ticket that she ended up having to write a law term paper.

Sarah was cruising along on the highway going about fifteen over the limit. She had just gotten an A on one of her term papers and she was literally on cloud nine She was bobbing her head to some James Taylor when she noticed the red and blue lights in her rearview mirror. Sarah absolutely freaked out and began to try and drive a little faster. That was her first mistake. In her head she pictured the huge fine and having to go to court. As her foot pressed the accelerator she slowly realized she had to stop. Sarah finally pulled over when the officer pulled up next to her and told her stop the car.

Now everyone knows when you are pulled over by a cop you are to be super nice. Be as pleasant as possible. I have gotten out of a couple of tickets just by doing this. Sarah’s second mistake was being exactly herself, rude. The office asked for her license and registration and Sarah asked for his badge number. She told him she had no idea why she was being pulled over. The officer then asked for her cooperation but Sarah refused to give her license up. Her next mistake was calling him a misogynistic pig. And her last and final mistake was elbowing the officer in the stomach as he proceeded to handcuff her.

Sarah continued to run her mouth while in the back of the police car. When the office told her she would get her chance to write a statement and bring it to the police station. She was livid and told him she was going to write a law term paper that would get the District Attorney to drop the charges. She really just couldn’t keep her mouth shut. I didn’t understand why she was talking about term papers. It sounded like the officers were harder on her because of her mouth. Her bail was also astronomical because she assaulted a police officer.

Sarah spent the greater part of a day in a cell alone. She told me it was really difficult because she was always borderline claustrophobic. She had a very difficult time with it. Sarah also said she wouldn’t wish what happened to her on her worst enemy. When she got out of jail she decided to write a statement that would really prove her innocence which turned out to be more of a law term paper.

Sarah spent a week in the library doing some analysis research on her law term paper. She wanted a complete acquittal of all charges against her. She found the best lawyer she could to represent her. Sarah put all her other research papers on the back burner so she could dedicate all or most of her time to setting herself free. She had decided of course what happened to her was completely unjustified.

Sarah did finally get the charges dropped against her. Part of me felt like she should have served some time just to teach her a lesson. I guess it’s all in who you know and what you know. And of course it’s all in how you write your law term paper.

My friend Jessie got married last year. She had been dating Dave for three years prior to them getting married. They really did seem like the perfect couple. They agreed on pretty much everything. Where they were going to live. How many kids they wanted to have and what religion they would be. They seemed to really melt into each other lives. But there was one problem, money. Jessie made considerably more than Dave. I think it made him feel like less of a man. Their discussions about money got really heated at times. The got a joint account after they married. Dave put one hundred percent of his money in that account. Jessie matched the amount he put in but deposited the rest in her personal account. This went on for quite awhile. Dave became extremely fed up and decided to confront Jesse on her “run money.” Jesse stuck to her guns stating she wanted her own account for presents for Dave (how could she ever surprise him?) and just to generally do her own thing at times. Dave didn’t buy that. He also took issue with the lack of extra money they seemed to have and the amount of bills that were piling up. Dave and Jessie sat down together one day and decided to budget with a finance term paper.

Jessie felt that if she put all her money into their account she wouldn’t have money to do as she would like. I think secretly Jessie felt since she made more she should be able to spend more. Jessie was indeed a big spender. She loved clothes but was definitely a bargain shopper. Her closet was as big as my bedroom. And she utilized every inch of space for shoes, sweaters, dresses and jewelry. To her credit Jessie never spent full price on anything. I know Dave knew this so I don’t think he thought too much of her spending habits when crafting the finance term paper.

Jessie was frugal but she also enjoyed the finer things in life. Jessie drove a brand new luxury car. This was the first note in the finance term paper. Dave never saw the need for Jessie to have such an expensive car. She loved that car. She had it detailed often and car washes at least once a week. Dave was appalled as he wrote the term paper and saw noticed that Jessie’s car payment was more than two thirds of her monthly salary. Jessie didn’t budge she really wanted to keep her car. Dave wanted her to get something a little more modest, smaller with better gas mileage. He did a side by side comparison of the two vehicles in the term paper. Jessie looked at it and said she would consider trading in her car.

Dave also noticed how large their energy bill had gotten. He couldn’t figure out why it was so expensive. He started to do some analysis research. He talked to other people in the condo they lived in and decided to purchase some energy efficient light bulbs. Likewise he convinced Jessie to turn the lights off when she left the house and to take shorter hot showers. Both Dave and Jessie felt like this term paper was putting a nice dent in their debt.

Finally Dave tackled Jessie’s personal account in the finance term paper. Jessie spoke up stating that after seeing the budget they were working with she thought it would only be fair to put more money into their joint account. She wanted them both to enjoy it. She said that the research paper really open her eyes to how much they were indeed struggling and if she put a little more money in perhaps they wouldn’t struggle as much. Dave was really happy. And in the end they pretty much agreed on everything.

It was a very odd and boring class most of those classes usually are that way which is why I waited till my senior year to do it. The professor was a real jerk. His name was Mr. Hodgkin’s and he was boring. He gave us a lot of busy work and he really was an unfair grader on most of our term papers. He had his favorites and needless to say I was not one of them. He gave us a college term paper assignment to debate an issue that completely contradicts the norm. One thing that he and I did have in common: we were both dog lovers. He talked about his overweight Shetland Sheepdogs like they were his babies. He too was a rather large man tipping the scales in the morbidly obese range. Every piece of research I had ever read told me that dogs make you thinner. They make you more active. You’re running with them, going for walks with them .They make you want to get out because they need to go out. That must not have been the case for Mr. Hodgkin’s. He was single no kids and all he had were his dogs. I thought I could make a pretty good case for this on my college term paper.

My cousin Stephanie has a little beagle named Robyn but she never exercises her. Her dog has been called obese many times by the vetinarian and Stephanie has been told to lessen her food and generally change her diet. It is said that every pound over a dog is to he’s/she’s ideal weight is one less year of life he/ she will live. My cousin is also very overweight and has been told the very same things that her vetinarian told her about her dog were told to her by her own primary care physician.

For my college term paper I focused on Stephanie but I really hope Professor Hodgkin’s who take it as a personal slam. Stephanie’s excuse was her dog hated going for walks and her dog also hated being left alone. Every single day that Stephanie left for work or to the grocery store her dog will flip out. Robyn would jump, nip and bark so loudly. She even would attack things that happen to get in the way: shoes, books, papers anything within the reach of her mouth would be torn to shreds
I began to do some analysis research on this idea for my college term paper. Some owners become so involved with their dog that they begin to close themselves off from the rest of the world. My term paper was full of examples of people who begin to isolate themselves from everything and everybody. They become so engrossed in their family pet that they just never want to leave them alone. This in particular was Stephanie’s problem. She just couldn’t go to the gym because she felt as though she was neglecting Robyn.

My college term paper was a hit with Professor Hodgkin’s. He told me how eye opening my research paper had been for him and he was really surprised that his dogs may not live a long live because of his own unhealthy choices. He vowed to start living a healthier life that day. I get e-mails from him now and then. He got himself and his dogs down to a healthy weight and I was very surprised that all this came from my term paper especially since my intention had just been to set him
