Shakespeare Term Paper a Metaphor for Life
I love Shakespeare my favorite Shakespearean story is Titus Andronicus. It is the best Shakespearean story by far. And the best Shakespeare term paper I ever wrote. It did take me a long time to even have a favorite term paper. When I was in high school professors often pushed Romeo and Juliet and at the time I just did not get it. It was a different language to me. I couldn’t get it. It was so hard. I knew I was going to be an English major so Shakespeare was the one author I would have to master. I pushed my way through Romeo and Juliet. It was such a timeless story and it wasn’t as though I didn’t have a million places to reference it. I made it through college with a very basic understanding of it and my term papers were extremely mediocre. Later when I was in college I couldn’t get away from Shakespeare as I had imagined would be the case. My junior year I was handed the largest book of collective Shakespearian works imaginable. I wanted to cry I would stare at the pages and the words just swam around. What in the world where they trying to say? It was horrible. That week I had to write my first Shakespeare term paper I honestly believed it would be the last of my college research papers.
Give me any classic writer. I enjoy Chaucer, Salinger, Tolstoy and Irving. I have always loved to read. In order to be a great writer you really have to love to read. How elitist of you would it be to expect others to read your writing if you’re not willing to read others. It’s pretty standard idea. But when it comes to Shakespeare I just cringe. I could only understand every third word and I could never focus long enough to even attempt an idea as to what was going on. I was thoroughly confused. I really had to do some strong critical analysis on each act I was trying to read. It would take me a whole day to read a couple of acts and I was falling behind in my other classes.
Finally I invested in a fancy book for my Shakespeare term paper which performed a side by side translation of each line I was reading. It was amazing. Shakespeare quickly came alive to me and I became wrapped up in Hamlet so much so were I cried at the end when everyone dies over so many jumbled up misunderstandings.
I wrote my college term paper happily feeling like I finally knew what I was talking about. Hamlet and many other Shakespeare plays slowly became a metaphor for life to me. How misunderstandings trust and dishonesty can really spoil your everyday relationships. I was positive I would get a great grade on my Shakespeare term paper.
Shortly after I purchased this book, Shakespeare plays really became a readable medium. The translation really came to fruition and soon I was able to read these places without the help of my translator book. I tell this story to anyone who has a problem reading Shakespeare or writing a Shakespeare term paper. If I could get Shakespeare and love his writing you could to.
