Don’t Waste Your Best Term Paper On A Loser
At three in the morning my phone rang. My dog jumped on top of me and I tried to comfort him as I patted the best stand looking for my phone and clumsily answered it. On the other end was my best friend Kelly. It was not unlike Kelly to call me at all times f the night or morning. I listened to her story. She had met a guy. No surprise here. Kelly was always meeting guys who were losers. She was like a loser magnet. This guy she assured me was the one. He was “hott” she said and he really liked here. She had met him on a social site and had just gotten back from their first date. It had started at midnight and ended at three, some date I thought. Of course I wasn’t one for crushing her dreams quite yet. She rattled on for forty minutes or so. I decided to heat up a kettle. As I picked the flavor tea I wanted Kelly said something that made my mouth drop open “I’m going to write the best term paper ever for him.”
His name was Shazad. He had not been in this country long but was going to school here. He was enrolled in a local university but was having some trouble with the coursework. He really needed some help with class. Shazad didn’t specifically ask Kelly to write anything but he just kept talking about how much help he needed. He was actually very slick about how he got Kelly to write it. He told her he would have to spend next weekend working on the paper and he wouldn’t be able to see her. Kelly obviously wanted to see him so of course she just volunteered to write his college term paper.
Her heart was in the write place. She told me how hard writing term papers was for him. Kelly explained to me how he could barely speak the language. She knew he wouldn’t be able to write a paper on his own. There was no way he would be able to do all the critical analysis research. He wouldn’t be able to site the sources she said. She believed it would be easier to write the best term paper ever for him than try and help him write a mediocre one.
Kelly went out with Shazad about once a week always at midnight or later. Never a “real date” but just driving to fast food places, gas stations and fooling around in the car. She soon learned she was not just writing a research paper but a doctoral thesis for him. Kelly didn’t care though she was happy to help and extremely happy to see him. Shazad would bring her various sources he wanted her to use and corrections his Professor had made on the drafts of the thesis. Kelly was still very blind and was just really happy to write the best term paper she could for him.
A few months went buy and Kelly started calling Shazad her boyfriend. She had never been to his home, met his friends or family and had never seen him when the sun was up. I really tried to talk her into seeing what was happening but she continued to tell me how much she loved him and was so happy to be with him. Shazad supposedly didn’t own a phone. If she wanted to see him she would have to e-mail him.
Kelly finally finished the doctoral thesis for Shazad and of course shortly after Shazad was finished with Kelly. She was heart broken. She had spent at least two months writing the best term paper she could for him and one day Shazad stopped returning her e-mails and coming to see her. He literally dropped off the face of the earth. Kelly about lost it when on the thirtieth e-mail she sent him she received a undeliverable message back saying that the e-mail address was not valid. The next time my phone rang again at three in the morning was not to listen to happy stories but to console Kelly.
